Second Annual At the Net Tennis Event and Tournament
- October 18, 2003
The positive feedback continues to pour in from
those that attended the second annual "At
The Net" Tennis Event held on
October 18, 2003. It was a day full of fun for all
players and participants and their families and
guests.
On
the courts, the play was fun and competitive.
The intermediate level, final doubles match
pitted the team of Rich Grodin
and Kurt Spoerer versus Kenny
Dichter and Andy Timmerman
with Dichter and Timmerman
prevailing. While the advanced level, final
doubles match ignited the crowd as Brendan
Murphy and John Rives
overpowered Pavel Shklyar
and Mark Green.
The renowned US Open Doubles team, the Jenson
brothers, joined us for the day and
conducted several tennis clinics, posed for
photos, played matches with participants and
ran the fastest serve competition, won by
Steve Cronin with a
serve at an astonishing 115 miles per hour!
Off the courts, there was plenty of entertainment
for the players and spectators. Music was
provided throughout the day by the all so
talented "Central Park Guitar
Man." Free massages, nutritional
analysis, sports therapy and chiropractic
treatments were available to all players and
spectators, compliments of RM Training.
There was a Pop the Balloon booth that featured
many great prizes as well as a children's
entertainment area with free entertainment
provided by Jody Prusan.
The event featured over seventy-five amazing
auction and sweepstakes items, including VIP
tickets to the Wiggles at Madison Square Garden,
World Series Tickets and the opportunity to
record a rap song in a studio with an up-and-coming
musical rap artist.
All of those in attendance were treated to
a fun-filled, day including a buffet breakfast
and lunch as well as an afternoon awards ceremony
with refreshments. Players received
"At the Net" T-shirts,
ski hats, baseball caps, gift bags and more,
compliments of American Eagle,
as well as a guarantee to play at least one
match on center court in Arthur Ashe Stadium.
The day was a fun time for all, and we have
already begun preparations for the Third Annual
"At the Net" Tennis Event
and Tournament with plans to make it even
better than the first two. If you would like
