SILENT AUCTION DATES: June 24th – July 3rd, 2011
Vered Gallery's 10th Annual Independence Day Weekend Silent Art Auction will benefit the Turn the Corner Foundation, a national nonprofit dedicated to the support of research, education, awareness and innovative treatments for Lyme disease and other tick-borne diseases http://turnthecorner.org/. Benefit Committee Co-Chair Jay McInerney brought the Turn the Corner Foundation to the attention of Vered Gallery this spring when Jay mentioned his interest in supporting its Lyme disease research program. Turn the Corner's mission to help advance treatment of Lyme disease is particularly close to Jay's heart since members of his family are afflicted with this debilitating disease. Other members of the Benefit Committee include Candace Bushnell, Nicole Miller, Helen Bransford and Laura McFarlane. Artworks by John Chamberlain, Chuck Close, Eric Fischl, BIll Viola, Andy Warhol, Ray Caesar and Raul Higuera are among those being auctioned off to Benefit Turn the Corner.
“This art auction is a chance of a lifetime for people living anywhere in the U.S. or the world to acquire an important piece of artwork by Andy Warhol, Chuck Close or other major artists and, at the same time, join the fight against the Lyme disease epidemic,” said Stacey Sobel, executive director of Turn the Corner Foundation. “The Foundation is both honored and grateful to be part of this very prestigious event.”

Milton Avery, Marc Chagall, Pablo Picasso, Keith Haring, Fairfield Porter, Wolf Kahn, Andy Warhol, Tom Wesselmann, Roy Lichtenstein, Man Ray and Willem de Kooning are staples. The great 20th century movements of Abstract Expressionism, Modernism, Precisionism, Pop Art, Social Realism and the School of Paris are actively pursued. The gallery has a preference for major, bold statements in all media. The decorative arts too, are a part of what the gallery offers.
TURN THE CORNER
Turn the Corner Foundation was founded in February of 2002 by Staci and Rich Grodin. Staci has suffered from Lyme disease since 1994. Through her years of diagnosis and treatment, she uncovered an urgent need for research, funding and education in the area of tick-borne diseases. Since that time, Turn the Corner has grown to become a leader in the fight against Lyme and tick-borne diseases and an internationally recognized public charity. For more information, please go to http://turnthecorner.org/
Lyme and tick-borne diseases are growing at four times the rate of AIDS and are quickly becoming our nation's most misdiagnosed and fastest-growing infectious diseases. Educating the public and physicians regarding the diseases and the progression of treatment is essential.
